Jesse Douglas

Chief Executive Officer & Board of Directors
With over 20 years of successful entrepreneurial experience, Jesse formed Green Impact Partners in May 2021. Previously, Jesse was the founder, President and CEO of Wolverine Energy and Infrastructure.

Jesse has held various positions as an executive, senior manager and owner in multiple businesses. Jesse holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Alberta.

Kathy Bolton

Chief Financial Officer
With over 20 years experience, Kathy brings financial leadership to Green Impact Partners in key areas including finance, accounting, tax, compliance, reporting, budget, risk management, credit, and treasury functions. Prior to joining GIP in May 2021, Kathy was the co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of BluEarth Renewables, a position she held for over ten years. Prior to BluEarth, Kathy was the Chief Financial Officer at Canadian Hydro Developers.

Kathy holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants of Alberta.

Nikolaus Kiefer

Chief Investment Officer
Nikolaus Kiefer is a co-founder of Green Impact Partners. Most recently, Nik was Chief Financial Officer of Wolverine Energy and Infrastructure. Previously, Nik spent the last 15 years of his career focused on capital markets and corporate development initiatives, including co-founding multiple private entities. Nik began his career in capital markets where he was a sell-side research analyst covering multiple industries including Special Situations and the Energy sector (Infrastructure/Services and Energy Production).

Nik holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Western University in Ontario.

Sonya Kirby

Chief Operating Officer
With over 28 years experience in engineering, operations and projects, Sonya is responsible for developing and supporting the implementation of organizational strategies, providing direction to support functions including Construction, Project Management, Project Controls, and Environmental Health & Safety, and ensuring that business plans align with GIP’s planned growth targets and long-term goals.

Prior to joining GIP in November 2023, Sonya was responsible for the development and implementation of TC Energy’s natural gas pipeline projects in Canada as Vice-President CGL Phase 2/Cedar and Close Out and Vice-President Canada Gas Projects and, prior to that, she held the role of Vice-President of Safety, Quality, and Compliance.

Sonya holds her Professional Engineer designation from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), earned a Bachelor of Applied Science, Engineering from the University of Regina, received a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI), and has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business.

Geeta Sankappanavar

Geeta Sankappanavar is the Founder and CEO of Akira Impact, an essential assets investment firm that invests to support UN Sustainable Development Goals 5, 6, 7, and 12. Previously, Geeta co-founded, and she was the President of Grafton Asset Management, a $1 billion energy investment firm. Geeta began her career as a consultant with McKinsey and Company (New York Office) and she is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Geeta is recognized as an international thought leader, an unrelenting advocate for women’s equality and a committed philanthropist. Geeta has been recognized as Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women, Alberta’s 50 Most Influential People and Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40.

Alicia Dubois

Board of Directors
Alicia Dubois a proud Indigenous professional who earned a B.Sc. with Distinction from the University of Lethbridge and a Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto. Alicia is Chief Executive Officer of the Alberta Indigenous Opportunities Corporation and serves as the Co-Chair of the Board of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business. Previously, she was at CIBC where she established and led an expert Indigenous Markets team. Alicia actively contributes to awareness building and enhancing the positive national narrative around Indigenous finance and prosperity via speaking engagements with industry, governments, and diverse audiences across the country.

Bruce Chan has 25 years of experience, including as Chief Executive Officer and Director of an NYSE-listed international shipping company. Bruce also has significant governance experience as a senior executive in a conglomerate organization with four NYSE-listed public companies. Bruce also has a unique combination of significant global Human Resources & Compensation Committee experience, along with professional accounting and financial designations well-suited for Audit Committees.

Natascha Kiernan

Board of Directors
Natascha Kiernan is a lawyer, consultant and experienced independent director. She is the principal and founder of Bellevue Strategic Advisory, a business consultancy that advises clients on the negotiation and structuring of their financing and commercial agreements. Natascha has held senior positions with several prominent international law firms, including in the New York and London offices of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom. She has extensive experience advising governments, financial institutions, and corporations on complex, multi-billion-dollar M&A and finance transactions. Natascha was selected as a “Top 40 under 40” rising legal star by the Financial News.
