Reporting to the Vice President Construction, the Project/Construction Manager is accountable for planning and allocating resources, preparing budgets, monitoring progress & quality, and keeping stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle.
Accountabilities and Key Functions
- Leads by example to further the safety culture that is integrated at every level within the organization
- Ensures all Projects are delivered on time within the stipulated scope and budget
- Ensures resource availability and allocation
- Develops and implements a detailed plan to monitor and track project progress
- Coordinates with internal and external parties to ensure effective project execution
- Manages relationships with clients and key stakeholders
- Employs project management methodologies and tools to measure project performance
- Performs risk management assessment and analysis to reduce project risk
- Evaluates progress of construction projects and prepares regular reports to management; escalating concerns when required
- Develops and maintains comprehensive project documentation
- Collaborates with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders involved in construction projects
- Prepares applications and obtains actionable permits from the appropriate authorities. Develops and prepares recommendations for resource requirements within scope and budget including equipment, human resources and materials.
- Hire and oversee contractors, labourers, and other staff and allocate roles and responsibilities
- Evaluate progress of construction projects and prepare regular reports
Who You Are
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in a related discipline or combinations of education and experience that result in the required level of knowledge, skill and competence
- Must be fluent in English (written and verbal)
- Must have minimum of valid class 5 driver’s license
- Minimum 5-10 years related experience including at least five years’ experience leading construction projects and multi-disciplinary operational teams
- Advanced understanding of infrastructure construction and project management
- Significant operational experience gained in the energy or construction industries
- Ability to work and travel internationally approximately 25% of the time. We offer a flexible workplace where office space is available in Calgary, but encourage working from home with on-line collaboration.
